Use Video to Engage Members of the Media

Today’s Blog is a guest post by  Lisa Elia

Lisa Elia- PR Expert and Media Trainer

Videos are extremely important because members of the media (especially TV producers) need to see how you will come across on camera before they will book you for an interview. Increasingly, print media outlets are now including videos on their websites, to correlate to their print articles. Members of the media frequently search YouTube and Google for experts to interview and products to feature. So, if you want to attract the media and keep them interested in you or your company, video is crucial.

If you are an expert, create videos of yourself sharing valuable tips or information, or demonstrating what you do. If you create products, you can also share tips, but be sure to create at least one video that shows the products in use. Be sure that the lighting, audio and video quality is adequate for the media. You can lose the attention of the media quickly if your videos look too unprofessional or if they are difficult to watch.
Host your videos on your website so that you lead people back to your site to view them. For purposes of media pitching, it’s best to host at least some of your videos in an online press room on your website. You can also post your videos in the videos section of your Facebook page and other social media accounts, and share them in your feeds.

Include links to videos in the body of your press releases so that when they are published, readers can view the videos to gain information, be entertained or see something else that is useful, educational and/or entertaining. Also include links to videos of you/your products in your email pitches to the media so they can get an immediate sense of you and/or your products.

Taming the Inner Critic to Bring Out More Joy

Today I am pleased to share a guest blog post from my colleague, Sheevaun Moran, who is also a fellow member of the Evolutionary Business Council http://ebcouncil.com/

Taming the Inner Critic to Bring Out More Joy

Our world is filled with many words and many of those are actually critical. These critical thoughts and words are  brought down by our parents and their parents. These energies and thoughts live within us so much so that they manifest easily when someone is around us who is critical.

For many years I’ve heard from my clients that they want peace and joy. I always say that unless you have a model, on a regular basis, for joy and peace that you won’t get there. You will only wish and long for something that sounds good – too good to be true.

It is possible but you must fill your home, office, energy, life and all surroundings with things that bring you joy. You must be informed or inform yourself when you are out of alignment with the things that bring you joy.

There is a quote in my book Shotgun Shopping-Materializing What You Want Without Ever Shopping that says “Never bring into your home anything that you don’t absolutely love. If you do your mind will start having little pangs of doubt. It will be just like a slow leak in a tire that eventually will burst and create chaos.”

The same thing applies to having joy in your life. it is at your fingertips, if only you will allow it. Rather, it is on the tip of your tongue and all you need to do is allow it.

I learned many years ago from a mentor of mine that there’s joy around me and ready to jump in and take place at my whim. The word that he used when sharing this concept is “ananda”.

While this is not a common word today we are still affected by the energy of this word – ananda. Try it.

Stop Struggling With Your Purpose

Today's guest blog post is from Jennifer Urezzio, on the topic of purpose.

Purpose is a hot topic in many of the workplaces that I am in contact with as a speaker, trainer and facilitator.  I have written about purpose and passion on a few occasions, and it is great to have yet another perspective shared on this topic, by Jennifer!

Jennifer developed Know Soul’s Language to help people understand their own innate insight and voice. She is an expert at using intuitive abilities in everyday life to help people achieve their goals.  Jennifer is a member of the Evolutionary Business Council and is leading a tele summit later this month, visit: to find out more information.  http://www.knowsoulslanguage.net/?page_id=2066

Enjoy Today's post....   Stop Struggling With Your Purpose By Jennifer Urezzio

We have been living in a fear and judgment-based society. We have been bombarded with messages that say, “In order to be happy, wise and successful, we need to be living  in purpose.”

This creates a Consciousness of How:

 How can I be on purpose?

 How can I be happy and successful?

 How can I make this all work?

 How can I control this situation to get what I want?

The Consciousness of How is exhausting and drains us of our life force. In the Consciousness of How, we take the paradigm of manifestation: be, do, have and twist it into do (how), have, be.

The Consciousness of How can keep us wrapped in fear and comparison energy.

Here’s a new energy thought: what if, just what if, living your purpose is much more about being than doing.

What if your purpose is a state of consciousness for you and the how or doing is much less than we think it is? What if the new paradigm is: be, feel, do a little, and have?   I believe our purpose has two parts: the being (or the consciousness) of that purpose and Divinely inspired action (Let's call this Purpose in Action).

So, what does this mean for your life and your business? It means a paradigm shift. It  means working with your energy not against it. Let me give some examples using the Axiom of Quests (Soul Language category about mission of purpose).

If you are a Pioneer, your being and consciousness state is “innovation.” You don’t have to do anything to be innovated. It is your frequency. It is your “go-to state” of being. To have human experiences of your mission or purpose, you will want to create some Purpose in Action (Divinely inspired action). What might this look like? For a Pioneer, it could be creating something new, a new thought or a new approach.

Let’s take the Observer. The Observer’s being and consciousness state is one of “witnessing.” Once again, there is nothing to do in this state. I have heard Observers say it is almost like watching a movie. So, what might be the Observer’s Purpose in Action?

Maybe it could be sharing those observations with another and/or acting for themselves on the knowledge that they observer in their life. How do you know if you are caught up in the Consciousness of How? Here are some  signals that you are in this state:

 You are consumed by how it is all going to happen

 You are consumed with doing it right

 You aren’t pausing and going within for the answers

 You are consumed with looking outside of yourself for the answers

When I allow myself just to experience the being of my Axiom of Quest, it feels as if the world opens up. I begin to relax and have a deep sense of peace within. In this consciousness level I begin to receive clarity to take action on my purpose.

Personally, if I never had this understanding of this part of myself or the words to put to

this part of my Soul, I believe I would still be trying to conquer the how. Often we are

making our lives more complicated and being much too serious. Remember, you don’t

have to change anything about yourself. It is just embraces the truth of who you are

Steps to catapult success in business

Steps to catapult success:

Recently at an Evolutionary Business Council retreat I was on a panel to talk about how we have taken our business and platform to new levels of success. Here were the tips I provided:

1) Learning to work with and for my husband Christopher

I always joke saying "somehow my husband became my boss, the CEO of the company.  I must have missed the corporate memo!"  My husband and I are in business together. And I can happily say the way we have structured the business, our team and virtual team, and responsibilities, it is working amazingly well.  Many couples struggle to work together and be in business together.   We have learned how to capitalize and leverage our different strengths in a way that works for us, and our business. This has allowed us to work more effectively where our energy is, and maximize our time.

2) Systematizing the business

This is a biggee! I love the book the E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber. His strategy about systematizing business made so much sense that this is exactly what we did. Initially the systems were more specific to our book and product division of the business, however, systematization is now occurring in other parts of our business as well.

3) Sponsors

We love our sponsors. Our In Kind sponsors, Marketing Sponsors, Book Sponsors, Event Sponsors..... the list goes on. Collaborating with other businesses and entrepreneurs in sponsorship arrangements has been a great benefit to us, and we are hearing the same feedback from them.

4) Seeding to grow business

One of the ways we stay in touch with clients is through seeding.  Kim Duke taught me this strategy several years ago and it works!  Seeding is not push marketing, it is simply a way of staying in touch and recognizing and appreciate clients. We do not combine seeding and marketing at the same time. The different ways we have used seeding is a) sending copy of our new book, b) CD with some of our audios, c) coffee card...

5) Stop being a perfectionist

Yikes! A perfectionist?  That is what I said several years ago in response to my coach's question.  I am happy to say I am now a recovering perfectionist. When I let go of some of the perfectionist tendencies and expectations of myself, and focused on excellence instead, life opened up and our business grew.

6) Bigger Playground

I have start playing bigger and injecting myself into the national discussions in the topics of my expertise, such as communication, team building, business, and being an author.  I also surround myself with leaders and mentors who are successful, and who share similar values. And, I have fun!

I am happy to announce that GPS Your Best Life- Charting Your Destination & Getting There in Style, my new book co-authored with Debra Kasowski, is now available on Amazon (and coming to bookstores soon):
